Folk Alliance International is where the global folk community gathers to exchange ideas, discover new sounds and forge lasting connections. The four-day event is more than a conference - it’s a meeting point for artists, agents, programmers, presenters, curators, and connectors working across borders, languages and traditions, crossing a diverse array of genres including Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Global Roots, Hip-Hop, Old-Time, Singer-Songwriter, Spoken Word, Traditional, Zydeco, and various fusions.

From January 21–25, 2026, Folk Alliance International returns to New Orleans, a city with deep musical history, bringing together folk to share, discover, and build. At its heart are the Official Showcases: 25-minute performances that put tour-ready artists in front of those who make things happen: festival bookers, agents, venue programmers, labels, radio, media, and peers. These slots are competitive and curated, selected by an international jury looking for distinctive voices, sharp songwriting, and the ability to resonate across contexts.

British Underground's presence at FAI has long been about platforming artists who challenge and celebrate folk traditions in equal measure. Over the years, the FAI stage has seen Mercury nominees, Glastonbury veterans, and emerging artists at the start of global touring careers.

This isn’t about being polished — it’s about being ready. Ready to travel, collaborate, and play your music in a room that matters.

If you want to take your live performance to the international stage, this is your call.

Applications close 6 June 2025, 11:59pm CT.
